Three types of portraits are available: Fine Portraits in Life Size or Standard Size, and Silverpoint.
SILVERPOINT PORTRAITURE
What is Silverpoint?Silverpoint is an ancient drawing medium. The artwork is drawn with a sterling silver wire on a surface that is specially coated to make it receptive to the silver. Silverpoint predates the invention of the pencil and was used in the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Albrecht Durer created magnificent drawings in silverpoint. After the invention of the pencil, it was largely forgotten, although various artists have used it at times through the centuries to present day.
Silverpoint is a unique medium that creates a softly luminous surface. It cannot be erased and darker tones can only be created by repeated layering and cross hatching, thus requiring exacting patience to use. With time, the silver attains a cherished warmth. It is a difficult medium to photograph because of its silvery hue; when seen firsthand one can truly appreciate its beauty.
Each elegant silverpoint portrait is drawn on a specially prepared acid-free surface. The portrait size for a single head & shoulders is approximately 8" X 10" and can be created from your own photograph or photographs taken in the artist's studio.

FINE PORTRAITURE
Fine Portraits created with archival media are offered in two sizes: life size and smaller, standard sizes. Life Size Portraits are offered with your choice of oil paint & mixed media on canvas, or pastel & mixed media on paper. Choose between head & shoulders, half-figure, or full figure. Life size portraits include a photography session at the artist’s studio, or by advance agreement on location as described on the price list.
Standard Size Portraits are offered in pastel & mixed media on paper. These portraits can be created from a photography session or existing photograph (quality of image and copyright permitting).
Memorial Portraiture:The artist will consider requests for memorial portraits from existing photographs, quality of image and copyright permitting.
