Pastel Portrait, “Grampa,” completed as a tribute for his birthday
My newest pastel portrait, “Grampa,” was completed in honor of my father-in-law’s March birthday. This nearly life-size portrait depicts him in his loft with his birds, showing his lifelong pursuit of breeding and racing homing pigeons. I was moved by the tenderness by which he handles the birds, and the trust they seem to display in his presence. We arranged for a surprise presentation of the portrait at a local restaurant. I am happy to say he was surprised and delighted with this tribute.
I am delighted to learn that my pastel painting, Portrait of Noah, has received the Popular Prize Award of the Plymouth Guild's 40th Annual Juried Arts Festival. This prize is particularly meaningful to me becuase it reflects the choice of so many people. My sincere thanks to all who voted for this work; it is a great honor!

I am delighted to share with you that my pastel portrait, “Portrait of a Young Girl” is the recipient of the People’s Choice Award (Popular Prize) of the 31st Annual Festival of the Arts of the North River Arts Society in May 2007. The North River Arts Society, located in Marshfield, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit organization established in 1968 and fosters participation in and appreciation for the arts at the community level. I thank all those who viewed the exhibition and cast their vote for “Portrait of a Young Girl.” The child of whom I painted the portrait, her family, and I are delighted by this most honored distinction.
Portraiture for the Holidays
Now is the perfect time to place your order for a pastel portrait for the holidays. I create painted portraits from photographs that I take either on location or at my studio. A pastel portrait takes approximately two months to complete once photographs are taken. A pastel portrait would make a beautiful, unique and elegant gift for someone special in your life—a gift to treasure. Current Work
I am currently preparing to work on a life size pastel portrait of a little girl that was commissioned by her parents to commemorate her first birthday. What a wonderful idea! She is absolutely adorable!
